AIGUAMOLLS DE L’EMPORDÀ

Aiguamolls de L´Empordà is one of the main wetlands in Catalonia.

It is located in Empordà, between the Fluvià and Muga rivers.

In a space characterised by current river courses, the old rivers endings, and canalisation and irrigation systems for crops that have historically occurred in this place with a lot of water.

Aiguamolls del Empordà Natural Park was created on October 28, 1983 by Law 23/1983, declaring natural sites of national interest and comprehensive zoological and botanical reserves.

In addition to the well-known figure of Natural Park, we find the integral natural reserves (highest level of natural protection under Catalan law).
